2025 Recap

I have heard from so many and felt it myself that 2025 went by so fast! It was a whirlwind of a year for so many. In our family we had two weddings, two funerals, a landscaping overhaul, a home remodel, a baptism, and a baby! There was so much happening, time just disappeared. I’m really, really wanting 2026 to have a little slower of a pace. We shall see…

The Look Back

For the past three years I’ve done a thing. It’s called Year Compass. And I love it!

Basically, there are prompts that guide you through an evaluation of your past year. You start big with all the things that happened week by week and draw the most important moments of the year. The questions then become a bit more defined —

The wisest decision I made …

The biggest risk I took …

What are you most proud of?

What people were with you along the way?

Three biggest challenges and successes?

And then you write about something that needs forgiveness — either for yourself or others. You reflect on  what you want to let go for the upcoming year. You take a moment here before heading to the New Year.

The Look Ahead

And then you dream!

What will the next year hold for you? What do you hope to do or accomplish? Who do you hope to become?

For me 2026 will bring Joel home from his mission and another missionary send off with Ethan heading out. There will likely be another wedding! Maybe another baby will be announced, maybe not (either would be fine by me!).  We might say good bye to my parents’ home. I will be heavily invested in the yoga therapy program, dating my husband, managing the home front, and strengthening friendships.

My word for 2026 is TRANSFORMATION.

I’m ready for a big shift. I want to be calmer, kinder, and more self-assured. I want to fully embrace the things I’ve learned, the things I teach, and be fully present. Time scarcity is something I have struggled with for years and I truly want to shed that weight. I’m 47 years old (with 47 more to go, I hope!) and I don’t want to waste it wishing time would slow down. I want to slow it down by living in awe of each day.

Try It, It’s FREE

This journaling exercise has become my new favorite way of doing New Year Resolutions. I love looking back at the year we’re leaving before jumping into the year ahead.  I love the more broad view, not just creating a check off list of how to become better at so many things.  It’s fun to dream and to wonder and to explore all the possibilities that lie ahead.

Here’s to 2026!
